Vida I. Finnegan

Vida Izzetta Finnegan, 94, of Norwich, passed away on June 10, 2026 at the Norwich Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Born on February 26, 1932, in Holmesville, NY, Vida was a daughter of the late Arthur and Edith (Gould) Carson. She graduated from Norwich High School on June 27, 1950. For many years, Vida worked for the Area on the Aging as a dietician for the 60+ program. In retirement, Vida volunteered at St. Paul’s Church and the Chenango Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

Vida was a very loving wife and mother of three who gave her time and money to many needy charities. She was always willing to help in any way she could.

On August 29, 1953, in St. Paul’s Church in Norwich, Vida married Bernard Finnegan, who predeceased her on November 22, 2013. She was also predeceased by her oldest son, Bernard Finnegan, Jr. on February 10, 2019; brothers, Howard, Ervin, Arnold, and Bill (Roberta); and granddaughter, Casey.

Vida is survived by her sons, James (Marcia) Finnegan, of Norwich and Kevin (Dawn) Finnegan, of Oxford; grandchildren, Megumi, Tim, Andy, Ricky, Kristen, Nicole, Brennan, and Regan; daughter-in-law, Robin Finnegan; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Vida will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the chapel in St. Paul’s Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in memory of Vida may be made to the Chenango Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, 179 North Broad Street, Norwich, NY 13815.
