Stanford S. "Stan" Pelosi, Jr., PhD

Stanford S. “Stan” Pelosi, Jr, 86, of Norwich, NY and Palm Beach Gardens, FL, died peacefully at his residence with family by his side on Friday, August 22, 2025.

Born on October 3, 1938 in Revere, MA, Stan was a son of the late Stanford S. “Sully” Sr. and Helen (Knowlton) Pelosi. He grew up in Revere, MA and Saugus, MA and attended school at Malden Catholic High School, graduating with honors. Stan furthered his education at Boston College where he earned his bachelors of science in chemistry with a minor in theology. He then attended the University of New Hampshire where he received a PhD in organic chemistry and found true chemistry with his future wife, Evelyn Tyminski, another organic chemistry PhD student.

On August 14, 1965, in Chicopee, MA, Stan married Evelyn, who survives.

Following school Stan was a Captain in the United States Army Chemical Corps from 1965-1967 at Fort Eustis, VA and was a veteran of the Vietnam conflict.

After his service Stan began his career with the former Norwich Pharmacal Company as a research chemist where he made many close friends and patented numerous compounds for use in pharmaceutical products. Stan found joy in his research, collaborating with other scientists, and took great pride in his work. He continued in this position when the company was acquired by Procter and Gamble Pharmaceuticals until his retirement in 1993.

Stan enjoyed wintering in Palm Beach Gardens, FL for many years. He was an avid stock market investor, enjoyed skiing, sailing and traveling, was a former volunteer at the Norwich Pharmacal Company Museum in the Eaton Center, and a long-time member of the American Chemical Society. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family over long dinners, attending a multitude of school sporting events, following his favorite New England sports teams, and hearing about his grandchildren’s adventures.

In addition to his wife, Stan is survived by his two children, Sharon Pelosi (Scott Sutton), of Norwich and Steve Pelosi, of Norwich; grandchildren, Jessie-Marie Pelosi Sutton and Gabriel Sutton; brother, Frank (Marcella) Pelosi; nephew, Christopher (Emily) Pelosi; and great niece, Harper Pelosi.
