Roselyn Tice

January 24, 1927 — July 24, 2014

Roselyn K. Tice, of McDonough, NY and Moyock, NC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at her beloved McDonough farmhouse with her loving husband and children by her side.

Born January 24, 1927, in East McDonough, Roselyn was the daughter of Andrew and Anna (Chudzik) Kopac. She graduated from Oxford Academy and earned a technical degree from DeForest Electronic Institute of Technology in Chicago where she received a license as a radio and television operator.

On March 5, 1946, in Elizabeth City, NC, Roselyn married her husband of 68 years, James W. Tice III, who survives. Soon after they married, they moved to Moyock, NC, where they began a life of raising horses, chickens and grain farming. They also summered at their McDonough farm where they raised cows. As a committed family farmer, Roselyn was also active in the Kelley Grange and served several terms as an officer.

Roselyn was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She also cared for her beautiful gardens. She read voluminously, and quoted poetry all her life. Her family and friends also remember her delicious homemade apple sauce and apple pies.

In addition to her husband, Roselyn is survived by her children Marcia Steele, Jeanne Farlow and James W. Tice IV, each of Moyock, NC, and nephew Peter A. Timperlake of Oxford. Grandchildren Josh Davies, of Currituck, NC, Meredith Long, of Murfreesboro, NC, Gregory Tice, of Moyock, NC, and Thomas Davies, of McDonough, and five great-grandchildren also survive.

A memorial service for Roselyn will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2014, at the McDonough United Methodist Church, where Rev. Diane DiLuzio, pastor, will officiate.
