Rose M. Wentz, 92, of New Berlin, died on April 30, 2024 at A.O. Fox Hospital.
Born on August 14, 1931, in Brooklyn, NY, a daughter of the late Santiago and Elvira (Rosa) Cassas. She was raised in Brooklyn and graduated from High School in Brooklyn. It was there that Rose met her future husband, John H. Wentz, while he was serving in the United Started Army. The two would marry in 1951 and would relocate several times while John was in the military. Rose and John would live in Texas and upstate New York before finally living in Mahwah, NJ where he retired from the Army. While in upstate New York, Rose worked for I.B.M. Rose had a passion for antiques and was a well-known antiques dealer. She loved auctions and specialized in American primitives. She sold antiques in New Jersey for many years.
On September 3, 1989, Rose was predeceased by her husband, John. Rose remained in Mahwah until she relocated to New Berlin, NY in 2002 where she continued to sell antiques until recently. She loved upstate New York and the nature in her homestead gardens.
Rose is survived by daughter, Janet (Stephen) Coakley, of Malad, ID; grandchildren, Henry (Jana) Coakley, and Mary Rose Thomas; great grandchildren, Jordyn, Timothy, Stephen, Aillia “Lilly”, Arya, and Abrielle; and su corazón, Erasto. In addition to her husband, she was heartbroken by the loss of her son, John J. “Jay” Wentz; and brothers, Santiago “Sonny” Cassas and Louis Cassas.
To honor Rose’s wishes, there will be no formal services. Funeral arrangements were entrusted with John Antonowicz of the Wilson Funeral Home in Norwich.
