Nancy F. Dibbell

Nancy Forbes Dibbell, 93 years old of Norwich, NY passed away on April 12, 2026 in the comfort of her home. The family expresses deep appreciation for the care she was receiving there.

Nancy was born on March 23, 1933 in Morrisville, VT to Merwin and Kathleen Forbes. She grew up near Lyndon, VT and later graduated from Waterbury High School, Waterbury VT, where she met her future husband, Kenneth Dibbell. Nearing completion of her courses at Mary Fletcher Hospital in Burlington, VT to become a registered nurse, they married on June 24, 1954 in Waterbury. Nancy didn't work for very long in nursing, but she took pride in her training and in helping others. Hence the photo.

Nancy is survived by her children, Kenneth J "Jack," David (Nancy K), Michael, Kathleen "Kathie" Elwood, Kendra, and Steven. All live in the Norwich, Hamilton, and South New Berlin areas. There are 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren (so far!) She was predeceased by her husband Kenneth and her brothers Howard and Charles.

Except for a year in Minnesota and a year in Colorado, Ken and Nancy raised their family in New Jersey. Most of that time was in a little place called “Changewater,” where do-it-yourselfer Ken eventually built a cedar log home for the growing family. But in 1976 they moved to Twin Pond Farm in South New Berlin, where the younger children attended school.

Nancy greatly enjoyed her grandchildren and loved to give attention to them in their school activities and sports. In 2014 Ken and Nancy moved to Norwich and enjoyed their time on Guernsey Street.

In 1967, Nancy was added to the Lord in the sense of Acts 2:38-42 and continued faithfully as a disciple, a Christian, in the sense of Acts 11:26. She assembled with the church of Christ in South New Berlin, and continued doing so as long as she was able, following Ken's passing in 2020. Nancy and Ken will be greatly missed.

There will be no calling hours. There will be a private service at the convenience of the family.
