Mitchell Smith

Mitchell L. Smith, 76, of Norwich, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at Chenango Memorial Hospital.

Born in Oxford, NY on August 26, 1936, Mitchell was the son of Meldon and Mille (Hogencamp) Smith. He graduated from Oxford Academy with the Class of 1955 and subsequently began a career with Norwich Pharmaceuticals and, later Procter & Gamble, which lasted until his retirement in 1998.
Mitchell was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Oxford, but also attended both St. Paul and St. Bartholomew churches in Norwich.

On September 13, 1958, in Norwich, Mitchell married Constance M. “Connie” Bartlett. Connie died on March 19, 2013. Mitchell is survived by his sister, Ramona Erwin of Zephyrhills, Florida and a brother, David Smith and his wife, Donna, of Jupiter, Florida; a brother-in-law, David Bartlett and his wife, Penny, of Buffalo; a sister-in-law, Maryanne Bartlett of Seattle, Washington and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Stephen Bartlett.

Funeral services for Mitchell will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at the Wilson Funeral Home. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery.

Contributions in memory of Mitchell may be made to the Memorial Fund of St. Paul’s Church.
