Michele M. (Loughren) Arithi, 58, of Norwich and formerly of Oxford, died on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, NY.
Born on October 3, 1967, in Norwich, Michele was a daughter of the late Douglas and Elizabeth “Betty Jean” (Wright) Loughren. She graduated from Oxford Academy in 1986. For many years, Michele was an emergency dispatcher Chenango County – a career she took great pride in. Due to her familiarity with the east coast she went to Nebraska to dispatch Life Net as a dispatcher. Michele later relocated back to Chenango County and worked for Cortland TLC Ambulance. Michele was proud of her work during the 9/11 attacks when she was stationed in New York City by TLC Ambulance. Most recently, Michele will be remembered as the helpful, talkative, and friendly clerk at Price Chopper.
Michele was a former volunteer member of the Oxford Fire Department. Her greatest joy in life was volunteering for winter guard. Together with her daughter, Kecia, Michele could be found across the northeast at color guard and drum corps competitions. She also was a proud member of the Winter Guard International and will be missed by her countless friends she met during her travels.
Michele is survived by her loving daughter, Kecia; siblings, Michael Loughren, of Pennsylvania, Kathleen (Joseph) Brillinger, of South New Berlin, and Judith (John) Killean, of Norwich; nieces and nephews, Lindsay, David, Tracey, Patrick, and Hannah; and several great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Michele was predeceased by her niece, Amy Pole.
A graveside service for Michele will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in Warn Ten Broeck Cemetery, Route 12 North, Brisben.
