Marjorie A. Angelino

Marjorie A. “Marge” Angelino, nee Houman, of 14 York Street, Norwich, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2026. She was in her 99th year.

Born on August 25, 1926, in Auburn, NY, Marge was a daughter of the late Leonard and Agnes (Graney) Houman. She spent her childhood in New Jersey and as a teenager began figure skating which she carried on into adulthood. She graduated from Clifton New Jersey High School in 1944 and following her graduation took a position as a Bell Telephone operator in Manhattan. Marge eventually moved with her family to Norwich, to be near her aunt, Helen Flanagan.

After moving to Norwich, Marge worked at the Norwich Pharmacal Company and later for the Norwich Shoe Company as a bookkeeper. Marge also worked later for Syd Johnson Construction as the office manager and for Natoli Engineering. Marge had a great passion for genealogy and tracing her family roots.

Marjorie was a member of both St. Paul’s and St. Bartholomew’s Catholic Churches.

On May 10, 1947, she married Charles A. Angelino at St. Paul’s Church in Norwich. Through this marriage were three children: William Joseph “Thumper” Angelino, Charleen Ann “Bunny” Angelino (Jackson) and Joseph Graney Angelino.

She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Charles A. Angelino on November 5, 1997; son, William Angelino; sister, Agnes “Betty” Carroll; brothers, James Houman, William O. Houman, and John “Jack” Houman.

She is survived by her daughter, Charleen A. Jackson and her husband, Paul; son, Joseph G. Angelino and his wife, Kendall Saber; numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Marjorie will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at the Church of St. Bartholomew. Family and friends are invited to call at the Wilson Funeral Home on Friday, June 19, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. The Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. prior to the calling hours. Burial will occur at St. Paul’s Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Marge’s memory may be made to the Norwich Fire Department, 31 East Main Street, Norwich, NY 13815.
