Margaret M. Herzog

Margaret M. “Midge” Herzog, 69, of Bainbridge, died on Friday, June 12, 2026 at Wilson Medical Center.

Born on October 9, 1956, in the Bronx, NY, Midge was a daughter of the late Frederick and Joan (Keenan) Herzog. She grew up in the Bronx, where she attended Our Lady of Mercy Elementary School, Cathedral High School, and The College of Mount St. Vincent. She later earned her master’s degree in education from Lehman College.

She thrived as an educator, working with the children of Public Schools 7 and 8 in the Bronx, inspiring the young minds of tomorrow. Midge had a deep passion for teaching, caring for others, and caring for animals. She was a voracious reader, enjoyed solving puzzles, working outdoors in the yard, completing crossword or sudoku puzzles, and spending time with the animals she loved. Midge also had a great love for music and photography. Midge moved to the Bainbridge area twelve years ago after retiring.

She is survived by her daughter, Meredith Herzog of Bainbridge; her granddaughter, Michaela Herzog‑Gray; her siblings, Joanne Smith of Florida, John Herzog of Bainbridge, Patricia Herzog of the Bronx, NY, and David Anderson of the Bronx, NY; as well as several nieces and nephews. The close friendships she had shared will be warmly remembered. She was predeceased by her brothers, Fredrick and James Herzog.

A Memorial Mass for Margaret will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 19, 2026, at the Church of St. Bartholomew, 81 East Main Street, Norwich, NY 13815.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Wilson Funeral Home.
