Linda J. Chomyszak

Linda J. Chomyszak, 88, of Norwich, died on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at the Norwich Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Born on January 23, 1938, in Binghamton, NY, Linda was a daughter of the late Raymond and Helen (Powers) Streit. She grew up in Hillcrest, was a graduate of Binghamton North High School with the class of 1955, and attended Hiram College in Ohio. For most of her career, Linda was a laboratory technician at Chenango Memorial Hospital. Linda was an avid genealogist, and volunteered for many years at the Chenango County Historian’s Office assisting families with genealogy requests. She also was a member of the Norwich Family YMCA attending aquacise classes. Most recently, Linda resided at the Chenango Valley Home, in Norwich, where she made new friends.

On July 11, 1959, at the All Saints Church, in Johnson City, NY, she married her husband, Donald E. “Don” Chomyszak, who predeceased her on April 21, 2022.

Linda is survived by her children, Stephen (Nancy) Chomyszak, of Attleboro, MA and Donna (Brendan) Gilroy, of Apex, NC; grandchildren, Zachary, Benjamin, and Lucas Chomyszak, and Dylan and Haley (Gilroy) Hammer (Owen), and several friends, including her childhood friend, Mary Webb, of Norwich.

A private burial for Linda was held at Mt. Hope Cemetery on Monday, July 13, 2026.
