Kimberly M. “Kimmy” DeVinne, 28, of Norwich, passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022 after a brief illness at Albany Medical Center.
Born on February 11, 1993 in Johnson City, NY, Kimmy was the daughter of Peter “Pete” DeVinne and Michele Yale. She grew up in North Pitcher, NY and attended schools in Otselic Valley. In 2011, she graduated from Otselic Valley High School, then moved to Albany where she attended college. Kimmy earned her bachelor’s degree from SUNY Albany in 2015. Upon moving back to the area, she became employed at Catholic Charities in Norwich. Kimmy then took a position with Child Protective Services for Chenango County. More recently, she was employed at MCAT, a job where she helped those in need, something she had a passion for. In December 2020, Kimmy earned a master’s degree from Binghamton University, and on December 9, 2021 passed her New York State Licensed Master Social Worker exam.
Kimmy loved her family, friends, animals, and her many indoor house plants. She enjoyed traveling and spending time around the pool in the summer. She was a giving person and took pride in helping those around her.
Kimmy is survived by her mother, Michele (Christopher Freeman) Yale, of North Pitcher, NY; her father, Pete (Debbie) DeVinne, of Norwich; her sister, Erin DeVinne, of Norwich; her grandmothers, Ginette Yale of South Otselic, NY, and Loma Wilkins, of Norwich; her step-grandparents, George and Pat Freeman, of DeRuyter, NY, and Roberta Urllich, of Norwich; her aunts, Brenda Way, of Norwich, Kathleen (Gino) Ullrich-Shaw, of East Syracuse, NY, and Amy (Jim) Fredenburg, of DeRuyter, NY; her uncles, Ricky Yale, of South Otselic, NY, Randy (Lonni) Yale, of Cincinnatus, NY, and Robert (Cindie) Ullrich, of South Otselic, NY; her cousins, Caitlin (Scott Shackleton) Yale, Ashley (Jordan Robinson) Yale, Alison (Brad) Burke, Kurtis (Nakeya) Yale, and Jamie and Dylan Fredenburgh; her niece and nephew, who affectionally called her “Uncle Timmy,” Parker and Jaxon Shackleton, Adyson and Brynlee Burke, and Kyler Yale; her best friend, Magean Casella; and her dog, Finn. She was predeceased by her grandfathers; Stanley Yale and Sandy Wilkins; and step-grandfather, William “Oatmeal” Ullrich. She also had a strong and loving work family who will miss her presence and friendship.
Friends are invited to call at the Wilson Funeral Home on Sunday, February 6, 2022 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Facial coverings are kindly requested. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home immediately thereafter. Burial will take place in the spring at Valley View Cemetery, South Otselic, NY.
