Julia M. Marino, 92, Norwich, NY, departed this life on December 30, 2021 in Norwich, NY.

Julia was born on April 5, 1929 in Norwich, NY to Frank A. Famolaro and Angelina (Natoli) Famolaro, both of whom predeceased her. She was the oldest of six children. Julia was a life-long resident of Norwich. She graduated from Norwich High School in 1947. After graduation, Julia worked at the Silk Mill, GLA, and the Norwich Knitting Mill.

Julia was joined in marriage to Leonardo A. Marino on May 7, 1955 at St. Bartholomew’s Church, in Norwich. To that marriage were born eight children: Rita, Anthony, Robert, Regina, Martin, Barbara, Richard, and Elizabeth.

Julia was a lifetime member of St. Bartholomew’s Church, and was member of the Ave Maria Guild for 57 years. Julia’s hobbies included knitting and crocheting. For many years she made hats, scarves, mittens, and socks for various charitable organizations. Julia was devoted to her family and enjoyed spending time with them and her friends.

In addition to being predeceased by her parents, Julia was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Famolaro, her sisters, Christine Foster and Jean Mary Famolaro, her devoted and loving husband, Leonardo, her son, Anthony, and her grandson, Brandon.

Julia is survived by her sisters, Josephine Diefenbacher, Greene, NY, and Mary Ann Bodiot, Norwich, NY; her children, Rita (Jack) Martin, Kirkwood, NY, Robert J. Marino, Norwich, Regina Silverman, Jamesville, NY, Martin (Sharon) Marino, Panama City Beach, FL, Barbara (Walter) Gardner, Long Branch, NJ, Richard (Penny) Marino, Blasdell, NY, and Elizabeth (Robert) Adams, Norwich; twelve grandchildren, Arlo Biviano, Lauren Malane, Anthony Marino II, Brichelle Parkin, Jennifer Marino, Travis Silverman, Marissa Silverman, Matthew Marino, Mattayo Marino, Alexis Adams, and Jonah Adams, as well as numerous great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Julia will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 6, 2022, at the Church of St. Bartholomew, where the Rev. Ralph A. Bove, pastor, will officiate. Burial will immediately follow at St. Paul's Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the Wilson Funeral Home, in Norwich, on Wednesday, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. The holy Rosary will be recited at 4:40 p.m. prior to the calling hours. The wearing of facial coverings is required.

Contributions in memory of Julia may be made to the St. Bartholomew’s Church Memorial Fund or the American Heart Association.
