Judith Litzie

Judith “Judy” Litzie, 60, a longtime resident of Oxford, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY, after a long and difficult battle with health issues.

Judy was born on June 13, 1966, in Norwich, NY, to the late George and Judith Slusser.

Throughout much of her life, Judy worked in healthcare, dedicating her time to helping others. Those who knew Judy best knew she had a dark sense of humor and a quick wit. She often wore a coat of armor to protect the kind and caring soul beneath it. Judy also had a love of scary movies, which was a reflection of her unique personality and sense of humor. Those who were fortunate enough to know the woman behind that armor understood the depth of her heart, her strength, and the unique way she navigated life.

She is survived by her three children; Terri (Mark) Carman of Greene, NY, Joshua Litzie of Winchester, VA, and Dallas Murphy of Oxford, NY.

She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren; Mallory Carman, Matthew Carman, Thea Litzie, and Joshua Litzie Jr. (JJ), who will carry her memory with them always.

A celebration of Judy’s life will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. -3:00 p.m. at the American Legion in Oxford, NY.

Family, friends, and all who knew and loved Judy are welcome to attend and celebrate her life, share memories, and honor the woman she was.

Judy will be remembered for her strength, her humor, her love of scary movies, her protective heart, and the lasting impact she made on those who knew her. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
