Joseph Tiberio

Joseph “Joe” Tiberio, 57, of Norwich, and formerly of Syracuse, NY, died on Monday, January 19, 2026.

Born on December 3, 1968, in Syracuse, NY, Joe was a son of Gennaro and Dina (DeFilippis) Tiberio. After his graduation from Liverpool High School, Joe earned an associate’s degree at Onondaga Community College, and a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Oswego in graphic arts. Joe worked a variety of jobs during his life including Chappel’s clothing stores in Syracuse and more recently at Raymond in Greene, NY. At Chappel’s, Joe was known for his precise and perfect gift-wrapping skills and friendly stockroom helper.

Joe was an avid comic book collector, starting at the age of 11. When spending time with Joe, everyone around him had to be aware a few jokes and pranks would likely occur. He also collected and enjoyed music – especially heavy metal. In 2015, Joe moved to Norwich to be closer to his family following the death of his father.

Joe is survived by his mother, Dina Tiberio, of Virginia; brother, David Tiberio, of the Philippines; sister, Joanne (John) Stafford, of Norwich; nephews and niece, Madison Stafford, Aidan Stafford, and Wyeth Stafford; special aunt, Valerie Tiberio, of Syracuse, NY; childhood friend, Julie (Steve) Batovsky, of Rochester, NY; many aunts and uncles in Syracuse and Buffalo, NY; and many close friends in Syracuse, NY.

Memorial contributions in memory of Joe may be made to the Chenango Arts Council, 27 West Main Street, Norwich, NY 13815, or to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023. Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.

Private services for Joe will be held at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements were entrusted with the Wilson Funeral Home.
