Grace M. Doody, 87, a Norwich native who most recently resided in New Hartford, NY, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2020, at the Presbyterian Nursing Home, New Hartford.
Born on December 26, 1932, in Norwich, Grace was the daughter of Gordon and Florence (Radeker) Doody. She attended and graduated from the Norwich City Schools. After high school, she worked for decades for the ConTel telecommunications company. Grace was a die-hard Norwich Purple Tornado fan. While she was able, she attended every sporting event, musical, concert, etc., that she possibly could. She also did the same for her great-nieces and great-nephews in Utica, which would always follow with a trip with them to Friendly’s. Grace was a communicant of St. Paul’s Church and was a very active member.
Grace is survived by her siblings, Patricia (Robert) Osowski, of Sherburne, and Jeanne Arnold, of New Hartford; nephews and nieces, Harry (Kathy) Doody, of Fayetteville, NC, Cynthia (Mark) Gardiner, of Ft. Myers, FL, Susan Castilla, of Utica, and Thomas (Jenny) Osowski, of Sherburne; great-nephews and great-nieces, Andrew (Gina) Castilla, of Frankfort, NY, Alex (Nicolina) Castilla, of Utica, and Leigha Castilla, of Utica; as well as several cousins. In addition to her parents, Grace was predeceased by her siblings, Gordon Doody, and his wife, Marie, and James Doody; brother-in-law, Bruce Arnold, nephew, Michael Osowski, and nephew-in-law, James Castilla.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the Birch Unit of the Presbyterian Nursing Home for the care and compassion they extended to Grace during her stay there.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Grace will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2020, at St. Paul’s Church, where the Rev. Ralph A. Bove will officiate. There will be no calling hours. Burial will take place at St. Paul’s Cemetery in the spring.
