Eileen R. Feitsma, 70, of Norwich, died on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at UHS Wilson Medical Center.
Born on January 28, 1956, in Sidney, NY, Eileen was a daughter of the late Donald and Vivian (Williams) Ostrander. She grew up in Mt. Upton, NY and graduated from Mt. Upton High School in 1974. After graduating, Eileen moved to Norwich and began a long career in food service. She began working in the Great American food store, first as a front-end cashier in the North Broad Street store, ultimately moving to be the deli manager in the South Plaza store. When Great American was dissolved, she became employed at Tops Friendly Markets in Norwich, as their deli manager. She eventually became employed by Price Chopper, as their bakery manager. Most recently, Eileen was the florist at Price Chopper, where she excelled in designing custom floral arrangements, a career she greatly enjoyed. Eileen retired from Price Chopper in June of 2024. During her retirement, she worked part time at Pires Flower Basket, continuing designing floral arrangements for all to enjoy!
Eileen took great pride in her flowers and holiday decorations. During each holiday season, she would change her house decorations inside and out. This was a task she loved to undertake for the neighborhood to enjoy and her own personal enjoyment while in the house. The outside was always full of flags, signs, and beautiful flowers for the specific holiday. Eileen was a dear friend to many and always made time for conversations. She was a very proud grandma, who made every effort to attend her grandchildren’s sporting events and life accomplishments.
Eileen is survived by her partner, Thomas Stagnitti, of Norwich; son, Shane Lawrence, of Norwich; grandchildren, Shane Michael Lawrence and Torin Matthew Lawrence, both of Norwich; mother-in-law, Lois Lawrence, of Norwich, sister-in-law, Deb (George) Flanagan, of Norwich; and siblings, Gale Borst, of Yorktown, VA, Kathy and Paul Benson, of Port Charlotte, FL, Gary and Barbara Cook, of Syracuse, NY, and William and Ann Ostrander, of Unadilla, NY. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Jewel (Howard), Donna (William) Miner and brother-in-law, Del.
Friends are invited to call at the Wilson Funeral Home, in Norwich, Friday, March 6, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. with a funeral service to immediately follow. Burial will occur in the spring of 2026 at Maplewood Cemetery, Mt. Upton, NY.
