Bruce O. Beadle

Bruce O. Beadle, of Norwich, NY, passed away on August 11, 2026, at the age of 81, surrounded by his loving wife and his children.

Born on June 18, 1945, in Norwich, NY, Bruce was the son of William and Evelyn (Mathews) Beadle. On September 11, 1965, he married the love of his life, Wahneta (Ruscoe) Beadle - better known as Pixie. As he fought the hardest battle of his life over the past year, he said to every doctor along the way - I have to get better, I need to take care of my wife. And he meant it. She was his purpose - and the reason he fought so hard.

Bruce was many things to many people. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, musician, realtor, and Rotarian – just to name a few. He was affectionately called “Uncle Bruce” by the many people whose lives he touched. His love for the community, his friends and most of all his family, shown in everything he did.

With a guitar in his hands and that unforgettable voice, he had a gift that went far beyond music. He could fill a room, quiet a crowd, bring people to their feet, or bring tears to their eyes. His voice was the kind you didn't simply hear - you felt it - and it only got better with age.

For countless people throughout the community, his music became part of the soundtrack of their lives. He played while people celebrated beginnings and milestones. He played when families gathered. He played for community events, volunteered his time to endless benefits for others in need, and played during some of life's hardest goodbyes, when words were simply not enough.

Bruce also understood friendship in its truest sense. He was the friend who always showed up. The one who answered the phone. The one who would sit beside you when life was difficult, celebrate you wholeheartedly when life was good, and somehow know when you needed a song, a laugh, a story, a little encouragement - or simply someone to be there to listen. He was the best listener. He made you feel like you mattered – and you did.

Throughout the years, Bruce’s greatest life's work was his family.

He was the best husband, dad, daddy, grandpa, papa, pops and role model that anyone could ask for. Not simply because of the things he did for his family, but because of the foundation he built. He was always there when you needed him. He was the first call his family made when they had something exciting to share – or just needed someone to listen. He didn’t try to solve things for you – but his perspective, insights and wisdom always led you in the right direction. He created a family rooted in love, loyalty, laughter, dedication, strength and the understanding that no matter where life took them, the bond of family was most important. That bond is part of his legacy. It will live on in the way his family gathers, the way they care for one another, the stories they tell, the traditions they carry forward and the love they pass for generations to come.

In that way, his work here on earth is never really finished. It simply continues through the people he taught how to love.

“Grief only exists where love lived first.”

Perhaps that is why saying goodbye to him feels so difficult. He wasn't merely present in the lives of the people who loved him. He was woven into them.

While those who loved him would give almost anything for one more conversation, one more laugh, one more gathering, one more hug or just one more song - they can also be grateful for something extraordinary:

They got to know him.

They got to love him.

And they got to be loved by him.

That is a gift that death cannot take away.

Bruce is survived by his loving wife Wahneta “Pixie” Beadle; his children, Donald Shepler (Kerri), Audra Scheer (Tim), Bruce Beadle Jr.(Nancy), Mathew Beadle (Kiera), Kathy Christophersen; his grandchildren, Heather Felix (Stephen), Felicia Shelpler (Rebecca), Raegan Nuckles, Nathan Scheer, Kai Scheer, Joshua Beadle (Abbey), Nicholas Beadle (Allison), Cierra Arnold (Taylor), Taylor Roefs (Bryden), Braedon Beadle (Liz), Samuel Beadle, Jayce Beadle, Brian Christophersen, Megan Christophersen; many beloved great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, band members and special friends who have become family.

He was predeceased by his parents, William and Evelyn Beadle; brother Gary Beadle; mother and father-in-law Helen and Robert Leahy; brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Rosie Eddy.

Friends and family are invited to calling hours to be held at Wilson Funeral Home, 68 South Broad Street, Norwich, on Thursday, August 20, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026, at the Broad Street United Methodist Church, 74 North Broad Street, Norwich.

Bruce’s family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to all who cared deeply for him and took such good care of him over the past year. He considered you all his friends. Your kindness will forever be in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made by check or in person to Chenango Dialysis Center, 54 E Main Street, Suite 6A, Norwich, NY 13815.

…and perhaps the best way to honor Bruce is not to mourn that his song has ended, but to keep singing the parts he taught us - to love your family fiercely, show up for your friends and community, use the gifts you've been given, and leave people a little better than you found them.

His guitar and voice may now be quiet. But his music isn't gone. We will all hear a particular song and forever hear it in his voice.

In the words of Collin Raye…

“We all live, we all die

But the end is not goodbye

The sun comes up and seasons change.

Through it all Love Remains”

And because of that, so does Bruce.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted with the Wilson Funeral Home.
