Brian K. Conkling, 64, of Norwich, died on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, NY.
Born on October 4, 1960, in Barton, NY, Brian was a son of Donald Eugene and Dawn Marie (Rumpff) Conkling. He grew up in Athens, PA and attended Lockhaven College for baseball. In Pennsylvania, Brian worked for Whipple’s Lumber and in 1983, relocated to Norwich to establish and operate the new lumberyard. He later worked for Lloyd’s lumber yard in Norwich, was a service manager at several car dealerships, and for many years was the service desk manager for Norwich Tire Company. His final job was with UFP Industries, Inc. in Sidney, NY which he recently retired from.
In 1987, Brian bowled his first 300 score game of many and in 1989 became a PBA member travelling to many tournaments within the United States with local teams. In 1999, Brian set a new Norwich city bowling record – a 869 series in his first 800 series. He enjoyed golfing and played in many golf local tournaments with friends. Brian loved to go home during hunting season and was very proud of Fred and Barney – his two deer trophies currently hanging in his living room. In 1988, Brian jointed the C.V. Electric Men’s Softball team which he did for many seasons.
In 1998, Brian met Darlene Bartle and his next season of life would begin as he settled down and helped raise his daughter, Morgan, whom he was very proud of. He also was a member of C. V. Free Church in Norwich.
Brian is survived by his wife, Darlene Conkling, of Norwich; children, Anthony (Alexandra) Muserallo, of Raleigh, NC, Anna (Ben) Crosby, of Marlow, NH, and Morgan Conkling (Ricardo Sanabria), of Endicott, NY; grandchildren, Wesley and Emmett Crosby; siblings, John (Connie) Bradley, of Sayre, PA, Ronnie (Priscilla) Bradley, of Sayre, PA, Cindy (Scot) Sealander, of Sayre, PA, and Valerie (Bob) Seymour, of Athens, PA. He was predeceased by his son, Aaron Muserallo.
Family and friends are invited to the Wilson Funeral Home on Sunday, July 13, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a funeral service to immediately follow with Chaplin John Albrecht officiating. Burial will occur in Tioga Center Cemetery, Athens, PA.
