Antonio (“Tony”) Nicastri, 85, of Norwich, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Wilson Hospital in Johnson City with his family by his side.

He was born January 4, 1930 in Carini, Sicily, the son of Andrea and Giuseppa Nicastri. In his early years Tony was in the grocery business in Palermo, Sicily. In 1971 Tony decided to make the move to America where his family could have a better life. They lived in Brooklyn until 1974 where he worked for a construction company and then moved upstate to be closer to family. Tony and his family opened Nina’s Pizzeria in Norwich in the summer of 1975 and successfully operated that business for more than 35 years. Nina’s was considered one of Norwich's best restaurants. They always took great pride in Nina’s and loved to see all of their friends and family there.

Tony loved working in his garden, trimming his trees, making wine to share with his family and always enjoyed a good family meal. He will surely be missed by all.
