Alice G. Ostrom

Alice G. Ostrom, 91, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2026 at UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital.

Alice was born on October 15, 1934, in Tyner, NY, a daughter of the late Leon and Agnes (Coy) Martin. She graduated from Norwich High School in 1952 and then worked at the Norwich Knitting Mill. She later took a position at the John C. Stott Insurance Agency. Alice also helped her family manage the Ostrom Sign Company that produced many signs for Norwich businesses.

On September 4, 1953, she married Theodore “Ted” Ostrom, who predeceased her in 1994. She joined Ted at the various Naval bases until they returned to Norwich in 1956. Together, they would have five children – Mike, Kathy, William, Mark, and Vesti. Mike and Kathy predeceased Alice.

She enjoyed her children and was very proud to be Mrs. Theodore Ostrom. She also like playing cards, dancing, and listening to country music. She was thoughtful, caring, and kind to everyone she met. She is survived by her children, William Ostorm, Mark Ostrom, and Vesti Young; grandchildren, Trey Ostrom, Tyler Ostrom, Emily Snyder, Jill Kraft, Amanda Ostrom, Lori Ostrom, and Lisa Ostrom; and eleven great-grandchildren.

A special thank you is expressed to Jill for all the love and support she gave to Alice and to the staff at Preston Manor for the excellent care they provided to Alice. The family also wishes to thank Chenango Memorial Hospital for the care and compassion shown to her during her last few days.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted with the Wilson Funeral Home.
