Rose Maiurano

January 24, 1916 — January 16, 2015

On Friday January 16, 2015, God decided Rose M Maiurano's work here on earth was done and she passed away peacefully at her home to a place where she could better provide for her family.

Rose was born in Waltham Massachusetts on January 24, 1916 and was baptized in Cambridge Massachusetts, before moving to Norwich, New York where she resided the rest of her long and fulfilling life. In September 1933 she married Joseph E. (Pep) Maiurano and was blessed with 6 children.

Rose was predeceased by her husband Joseph, her son James Maiurano, her mother and father Catherine and Joseph D'Ambra, her brother John D'Ambra, sister Molly Forgoine, son-in-law Kenneth Stewart and her grandson Joseph Maiurano. She is survived by her daughters Rosaria Delmonico, Catherine Stewart, Mary and Richard Fern, and Joanne Tarbell; Her sons, Francis (Pep) and Carol Maiurano, and Joseph P. and Dawn Maiurano. She is also blessed with 19 grandchildren, 30 great grand-children with two on the way, and one great-great-grandchild. Additionally, Rose is survived by her brother, Andrew D’Ambra.

She attempted to join the modern world by taking on jobs such as the Norwich Knitting Mill, Scintilla, and the A&P and Victory Markets grocery stores. However, she was always brought back to family where her favorite job was caring for her many grandchildren throughout the years. Rose will not be mentioned in the history books. They deal in war and conquest, business and money. Rose dealt in love. Caring, cooking and cleaning for her children and grandchildren brought endless joy to her life. She was most worried about their well-being and making sure they wanted for nothing. Her greatest joy in life was having her entire family congregate on Sunday for her famous spaghetti and meatball dinner. She was also known for buying special bread from Sam Toronto's store and would make many kinds of soup for all her family and their Natoli Avenue revolving door of friends and loved ones. If you stopped at her kitchen door by chance, she was known to whip up a feast out of nothing. One thing is for sure, she will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Rose will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at St. Bartholomew’s Church. Rev. Ralph Bove, Pastor, will officiate. Friends are invited to call at the Wilson Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5 – 7 pm. The rosary will be recited at 4:30. Burial will take place in the spring in St. Paul’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family would like you to consider donating to Hospice of Chenango County, St. Bartholomew's Capital Campaign Fund, or The Alzheimer's Association.
