Richard F. Watts

Richard F. Watts, 77, formerly of Norwich but more recently of Syracuse, died after a brief illness on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at SUNY Upstate Medical Center.


Born on September 29, 1945, in Norwich, Richard was the son of John “Rabbi” and Mary (Angelino) Watts. He graduated from Norwich High School with the Class of 1964. For over 40 years, Richard worked in the foundry of the Crouse-Hinds manufacturing company, in Syracuse before retiring.


Richard was a fan of New York sports teams, including the Syracuse Orange, Giants, Mets and Rangers. He also adored the animals that kept him company over the years. He was a consummate family man, and adored each member of his family. Richard also had many, many friends, and was known for his many kindnesses toward others. During his lifetime, Richard traveled quite a lot and he loved all kinds of music. He even attended the Woodstock concert in his early life.


Richard is survived by his loving daughter, Sara Watts, and her companion, Dan, Lostumbo; grandchildren, Michaela (Jared Weidman) Watts, of Morris, Hannah Watts, of Norwich, and Fynn Munro, of Norwich; sister, Rosemary Guenther, of Lafayette; and Goddaughter, Theresa Guenther, of Buffalo.


Friends are invited to call at the Wilson Funeral Home, Norwich, NY, on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. A private graveside service will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery, where Deacon David Kirsch will officiate.
