Paula Taylor

April 10, 1956 — July 2, 2017

Paula S. Taylor, 61, of Birdsall Street, passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at Chenango Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle against a long illness.

Born April 10, 1956, Paula was the daughter of Bill Taylor and Harriet Buckman. She spent her early years in Waterville, NY, then moved to Florida where she lived and worked for many years. In Florida she worked at Walt Disney World, but spent more time working for a children’s mental health facility. After moving back to the Chenango County Area and settling in Norwich, Paula worked as a bookkeeper at the Northeast Classic Car Museum, and also assisted the Chenango County Historical Society in a similar capacity.

Paula was a lover of arts and crafts. She was very skilled at sewing, crocheting, making earrings, macramé, and quilting. Prior to her death, Paula was working to create and publish a book with her many quilting patterns. She took pride in having created over 500 quilt patterns. Paula was also a regular patron of the Sew Nice shop, in Norwich, and was a fan of various genres of music, but heavy-metal in particular. Paula treasured spending lunch each Wednesday with her lunch buddies, and could also be found at local auctions, garage sales, and thrift stores looking for the next crafting idea.

Paula is survived by her two sons, Nick DeBrucque, of Norwich, and Richard DeBrucque, of Greenville, SC, her dear friend and neighbor, Peggy Gordon, and many, many friends. She is also survived by her brothers, Mike Taylor and Steve Taylor, and their children.

To honor Paula’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. Friends are invited to call at the Wilson Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.
