Patricia “Patty” Scully Schibeci, 84, of Canasawacta Street, Norwich, NY passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at her home. Patricia was the beloved daughter of Barbara Smith and Raymond F. Scully, granddaughter of Charles A. and Agnes Smith, and Charles P. and Jane Scully. All were long-time residents of, and strong contributing citizens to, the Norwich community. In death, Patricia is now reunited with them and with the love of her life, her husband A. James “Skip” Schibeci who predeceased her on June 21, 2009. Also predeceasing her were her brother Charles R. Scully and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Patty is survived by her wonderful brother, David F. Scully; her nephew, who was like a son to her, Andrew T. (Elisabeth) Scully; her special niece, who was like a loving daughter, Cynthia (Kyle) Beattie and their four wonderful, loving children “the four T’s”: Tyler (Stephanie), Taryn (Austin), Tiara and Trent. Patty and Skip absolutely adored them. Patty is also survived by her nephew, Patrick (Yasmin) Scully; her niece, Staci Scully; her great nieces, Louise, Beatrice, and Madeline; her great, great niece and nephew, Sophia and Jack; and many other family members and friends.
Patricia was a 1958 graduate of Norwich High School. She continued her education at Russell Sage, SUNY Oneonta, Cornell University and Syracuse University, receiving her B.S. and M.S. degrees as well as many extended studies in graduate school. Patty loved learning and shared that love with her students as she went on to a long, happy, successful career in teaching in the Norwich School District. She always remarked that all of her students were “gifted” in some nature and were great “kids.” Family and friends were dominant in Patty and Skip’s life. Patty will be remembered for her quick wit, friendly smile and easy laughter.
Patty’s family would like to thank the Anderson Family and the Golden Girls for their loving, attentive care of Patricia.
