Mark Collins

September 28, 1957 — January 15, 2023

Mark Steven Collins of Norwich, NY passed away January 15, 2023 after a brief battle with cancer.

Mark was born in Norwich July 28, 1957 to Gloria and James Collins and he graduated from Norwich High School. In 1974, Mark met Barbara Hallahan; they married and raised seven children: Michael Collins, Kerry Roberts, Kevin Collins, Casey Carnachan, Nathan Collins, Emma Jensen, and Stella Collins. He is survived by his children, his 14 grandchildren, his 7 great grandchildren, many close friends, and his siblings: Sarah Vermilyea, Danny Collins, Sharon Pruskowski, Donna Paul, Colleen Natale, Eileen Egnaczak and numerous nieces and nephews. Mark was predeceased by his parents, Gloria and James Collins and his son-in-law Christopher Carnachan. He was rich in family and friends.

Through the years, Mark worked hard to support his large and loving family. He worked at Bennett Ireland, Concert Homes, Simmonds Precision, and Automecha Manufacturing. Work was important to Mark. It not only served the purpose of helping raise his large family, it was also his social life. He fostered many important and lasting friendships in the workplace.

Mark was a kind, generous, and witty guy. He was quick to help with any task that needed doing. He had a way of making people feel instantly comfortable with a stupid joke. And while Mark cherished his time on the golf course, he was at his happiest when he was surrounded by his family—playing games with his children and grandchildren, cooking on the grill, and a laugh on his lips.

A celebration of life will be held this summer.
