Marideane Pane

September 20, 1947 — February 25, 2016

Marideane ("Mare") Pane, of Norwich, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at the Norwich Rehabilitation & Nursing Center.

Born September 20, 1947, in Washington, D.C., Mare was the daughter of Richard D. and Mary M. (Stack) Kimball. At a young, she moved with her family to Sayerville, NJ, where she lived for many years, and where she raised three children with her first husband. Later, with her companion, Mark Pane, Mare relocated to Norwich. Mare and Mark were married on October 17, 1998.

For 12 years, Mare worked at Wal-Mart, in Norwich. Over time, and due to her strong worth ethic, she was promoted to an assistant manager position of several departments. She was considered the “go-to” person among the Wal-Mart staff when a challenge needed to be resolved. Mare needed to stop working there after a work-related injury.

Prior to her injury, and before losing her sight in one eye, Mare could often be found crocheting. She was also an avid reader and, later in life, was fond of playing Pogo on her computer. She also met people from Australia online who turned out to be wonderful friends. Mare hosted her Australia friends during their only visit to the U.S.

Mare is survived by her husband, Mark Pane, of Norwich; sons Richard Ambrosio and his wife, Toni Anne, and Anthony Ambrosio, and his wife Amy, all of Edison, NJ; daughter Karen Ambrosio, of Norwich; grandchildren Elizabeth Karlson and Robert Cunningham; and sisters Judith Merlen and Bernadette Pasler.

A memorial service for Mare will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home, Norwich, NY, at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 4, 2016, where the Very Rev. Charles Taylor, pastor, Emmanuel Episcopal Church, will officiate. Friends are invited to call from 12:00 until the time of the service.

Contributions in memory of Marideane may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Chenango County, 21 Hayes Street, Norwich, NY 13815.
