Lynn Drake

June 19, 1926 — August 5, 2013

Lynn “Helen” Drake-Carius, 87, of New Berlin, New York, passed away on August 5, 2013 from stroke-related complications.

Lynn was born in Irvington, NJ, on June 19, 1926, the daughter of Edward F. and Viola Caroline (Sporman) Wegener. Lynn and her first husband, Herb Drake, moved to New Berlin in 1960 where they purchased what became the H-Bar-D Ranch Camp for children. She operated the camp for 43 years, 10 of which were on behalf of the NY State Sheriff’s Association, providing statewide underprivileged children the opportunity to attend the camp. In 2003, Lynn retired to Florida, leaving the business to be run by her daughter, who continues to operate it.

On April 19, 1987, Lynn married Harold P. Carius, who survives. She is also survived by her daughters, Terry Drake and Peggy Drake; son, Brad Drake; grandchildren, John and Trey Leonard and son-in-law, Greg Hodge.
