Lewis W. Morse

Lewis W. “Lew” Morse, 88, of South Plymouth, passed away after a brief illness on Friday, September 13, 2019, at Upstate Medical Center, in Syracuse.

Born on July 2, 1931, in Cortland, Lew was the son of Ira and Luella (Wire) Morse. Lew enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the Korean War from 1950 - 1954. After his discharge from the Navy, he married Dixie (Duncan) Morse, who survives. Lew and Dixie enjoyed 64 wonderful years of marriage. Lew is also survived by his children, Mark (Paula) Morse, Michael (Vivian) Morse, Merianne Morse, Martin (Donna) Morse, and Malcolm Morse and his companion, Denise; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and siblings Robert (Mary) Morse, Linda Adams, and Lanny Morse. He was predeceased by his son, Mitchell.

Lew worked for 60 years in the plumbing, heating, and electric business, eventually operating his own business, L.W. Morse & Son, which his son owns and operates today. Lew was also active in several community organizations, including the Kiwanis Club, the Moose Club, and volunteered teaching plumbing at BOCES. For many years, Lew delivered meals through the 60-Plus Meals on Wheels organization. In his spare time, Lew enjoyed his crafts, including woodworking, gardening, and photography. He especially liked helping his children and friends with their various home-improvement projects. Lew also enjoyed camping and travelling to many places of interest, including Florida.

To honor Lew’s wishes, there will be no funeral service or calling hours. A celebration of Lew’s life will take place at the convenience of the family. Contributions in Lew’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
