Jessie E. Labor

Jessie E. Labor, 85, of North Norwich, passed away unexpectedly at her residence on Tuesday, February 26, 2019.

Born on August 7, 1933, in Norwich, Jessie was the daughter of Carey and Emily (Pike) Whaley. She was a graduate of Norwich High School and worked for many years as a personal secretary at Norwich Pharmacal Co., and retired from what became Procter & Gamble. Jessie was an active member of the North Norwich United Methodist Church and adored her church and church family. She was a gifted organist and soprano singer. She led the children’s church choir for many years and played organ for the church as well. She also very much enjoyed antiquing and sold antiques at local shows. Jessie also found soap operas entertaining.

In 1954, in North Norwich, Jessie married her beloved husband, William H. Labor, who survives. Jessie is also survived by her sons Scott, Kevin, and Steve, her daughter Laurie Hoefler and her husband, John, and her grandchildren Vaughn Labor and John Hoefler.

A funeral service for Jessie will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2019, at the North Norwich United Methodist Church. There will no calling hours. Burial will take place in the spring at North Norwich Cemetery.
