James Sayles

James Sayles, 69, of Norwich, died on Sunday, May 29, 2022 in his Norwich residence.

James was born on May 5, 1953 in Norwich and graduated from Norwich High School. He attended college for culinary arts, something he greatly enjoyed doing. James was employed at the Chenango County Correctional Facility for over 35 years as a cook. He also made the “Meals on Wheels” take out dinners for the community. In his spare time, James liked biking, collecting sneakers, and loved watching sports. He was a huge Yankees, Giants, and Knicks fan.

James is survived by his children, Scott George, James Sayles, Kathleen Sayles, and Otis (Michelle) Sayles; his grandchildren, Dimitries, Shailee, Mariah, Ijaiah, James, Nia, Brianna, Darius, Jordyn, Deandre, Ryllie, and Madisyn; and his special niece, Lorrie Alcorn. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Sayles; mother, Florence Sayles; and his grandson, Damian.
