Helen Farnsworth

Helen L. Farnsworth, 90, of Mechanic Street, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 10, 2013 at the Norwich Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Born in King Ferry, NY on September 1, 1923, Helen was the daughter of Burdette C. and Grace (Nicholas) Streeter. She graduated from King Ferry High School with the Class of 1941. She worked as a sales clerk and office employee in Syracuse and had also worked in several department stores across the country. Helen was also a dedicated nurse’s aide, working in hospitals in both Auburn, NY and Norwich.

Helen studied piano for eight years including one year in Europe. She played in many churches and as the wife of John Farnsworth, an army officer, played for the soldiers during World War II. She played for them both in Europe and aboard ship as they were transported.

Helen was a member of the Agape Baptist Church.

Surviving are four sons, Crosby and Aleta Farnsworth, John and Arlene Farnsworth, Ray and Shirley Farnsworth and Danny Farnsworth, all of Norwich; five grandchildren, Jeremy, Stephanie, Nathan, Danielle and Daniel Farnsworth, also of Norwich; three great grandchildren; a brother, Roger Streeter, of Arlington, TX; Several nieces and nephews also survive. Helen was predeceased by two brothers, John and Donald Streeter and three step-sisters, Alma Larsen, Barbara Bundy and Irene Sommers.

Graveside services for Helen will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
