Francis W. "Pep" Maiurano

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Francis ‘Pep’ Walter Maiurano. At the age of 81 years old, Pep passed peacefully on Friday, January 20, 2023 at Chenango Memorial Hospital, where he was born on July 12, 1941.

Pep lived a life surrounded by his love for music, family, and friends.

He was raised among a large Italian family rooted in Catholic faith and was gifted with many talents. He served much of his youth as an altar boy at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church.

He graduated from Norwich High School in 1959 and went on to meet Carol Ann Sharpe in 1969. Pep was a pillar in Norwich Rock N’ Roll and has been playing the drums since 1958. He was the drummer for many bands through the decades, including The Monarchs, Pep and the Sportsmen, The Moonhill Band, and RPM Dance Band. He enjoyed spending his free time golfing, playing pool, and cooking for his family. He will be remembered as a loving father, husband, and friend to many. Pep was truly a one of a kind and touched the heart of everyone he met.

Survived by his wife, Carol Ann Maiurano; his children, Maryrose Maiurano (Quentin), Frank Maiurano (Erin), Teresa Trask (Shane), Angelo Maiurano (Michelle), Laura VanVoorhis (James), Karen Monroe, Dan Frederick (Carrie), and Michael Demma; his grandchildren, Cassandra Babcock, Christina Babcock, Samantha Trask, Victoria Trask, Shane Trask Jr., Mia Maiurano, Gabriele Maiurano, Estella Maiurano, James VanVoorhis, Everett VanVoorhis; his sister, Mary Fern (Richard); his brother, Joseph Maiurano (Dawn); many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws; and lastly his loving dog, Ace.

Pep was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Rose (D’Ambra) Maiurano; sisters, Rosaria Delmonico and Katherine Stewart (Kenneth); brother, James Maiurano; and nephew, Joseph Maiurano.

Please join Pep’s family for calling hours at Wilson Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 26 at St. Bartholomew Church, where Rev. Frederick Mannara will officiate. A celebration of life will follow the Mass at Sonic Gardens Studio, 90 Borden Avenue, in Norwich.
