Elizabeth "Betty" Emmons, 90, of Norwich, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at the UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital’s Residential Health Care Facility.

Born May 15, 1928, in Glen Ridge, NJ, Betty was the daughter of Fred and Clara Krumm. She graduated from Asbury Park High School where she met her one true love, Bert M. Emmons. The two were married on February 12, 1949. Bert died on February 20, 2004. Betty was a wonderful homemaker. She enjoyed cooking and was happy to make some of her mother’s famous German recipes. Betty and Bert made their home in Wall, NJ, where they lived for many years. In the late 1980’s they moved to Norwich, NY, to be closer to their son, Wayne, and his family. She was a member of the United Church of Christ, First Congregational, and especially enjoyed hearing Rev. Joseph Connolly’s sermons. Betty was also an avid bridge player and enjoyed living in the lovely Norwich community. She also lived for many years at Chenango Valley Home where she made many friends.

Aside from her dedication to her family, Betty was a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her son, Wayne, and his wife, Linda, of Norwich; grandsons Matthew, and his wife, Lauren, of Elkridge, MD, and Steven, and his wife, Melissa, of Norwich; and great-grandchildren Paige, Everett, and Dorothea, the last of whom will be born in the spring. In addition to her husband, Betty was predeceased by her brother, Arthur, and his wife, Adelaide.

To honor Betty’s wishes, there will be a private service for family in the spring. There will be no calling hours. Contributions in Betty’s memory may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Chenango County, 21 Hayes St., Norwich, NY 13815 or to the Chenango SPCA, 6160 County Rd. 32, Norwich, NY 13815.
