Eleanor A. Mirabito

July 21, 1932 — November 11, 2023

Eleanor A. Mirabito passed away at UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family on Saturday, November 11, 2023 following complications from a fall. She was 91 years old.


Born on July 21, 1932, on the family farm in McDonough, NY, Eleanor was the daughter of the late Spencer and Hazel (Pike) Aldrich. She graduated from Oxford Academy & Central School and began working at the former Norwich Pharmacal Company at the age of 18. She continued with the company until she retired in 1989 from Procter and Gamble Pharmaceuticals as the manager of the computer center.


On October 14, 1950, at the Church of St. Bartholomew’s, Eleanor married Albert A. “Al” Mirabito.


Eleanor enjoyed her retirement lifestyle including spending 19 years in Florida during the winter. She bowled in several local leagues, both singles and couples, winning many local and national awards. She also enjoyed golfing. Eleanor was an amazing cook making the best Italian dinners along with her famous chocolate chip cookies.


Eleanor is survived by her husband, Al, of 73 years; sons, Paul (Mary) Mirabito, of Norwich, and Dean (Eleanor Pepper) Mirabito, of Schenectady, NY; grandchildren, Christa (Robert Brown) Mirabito, Brian (Robin) Mirabito, Nicole (Brian Maricle) Cole, Kathleen (Bobby) Mikalunas, Donny (Melissa) Lawrence, Cheyenne (Rod) Klimek, and Bechet (Craig) Adriance; eighteen great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Adelaide Aldrich; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandson, Ornette Mirabito; great granddaughter, Taylor Cole; and siblings, Ray (Lillian) Aldrich, Florence (Donald) Genung, Ruth (Samuel) Mrosz, Irma (Robert) Davis, Olive (Lyle) Sturges, Harry (June) Aldrich, Elmer Aldrich, and Rena (Andrew) Gracin.


Friends are invited to call at the Wilson Funeral Home, on Thursday, November 16, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. with a funeral service to immediately follow. Memorial contributions in Eleanors’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741 or to the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.


Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with the Wilson Funeral Home.
