Born on July 11, 1935, in Johnson City, Don was the son of John and Nora (Gresham) Chomyszak. He was a 1953 graduate of Binghamton High School, then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Don served in the Marines from 1954 to 1957 until his honorable discharge. After his service, Don attended one year of college at Syracuse University and another year at Broome Tech. Then, in 1966, he became a representative throughout Upstate New York for various furniture manufacturers.

On July 11, 1959, at the All Saints Church, in Johnson City, he married his wife, Linda (Streit) Chomyszak, who survives. Together they would raise two children. He was predeceased by his brother John “Jerry,” and Jerry’s wife, Marjorie.

Don very much enjoyed playing cards and woodcarving. He especially liked carving duck decoys. Don had the “gift of gab,” was “one of a kind,” and loved telling jokes.

A private burial for Don will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Contributions in Don’s memory may be made to Chenango SPCA, 6160 County Road 32, Norwich, NY 13815.
