Catherine M. Wehrli

Catherine Meade “Cathy” Wehrli, 89, a native of Norwich, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 10, 2020 at the Chenango Valley Home where she was a resident for the past several years.

Born on March 11, 1931, in Norwich, Cathy was the daughter of Kenneth R. and Geraldine M. (Waters) Meade. On November 20, 1966, Cathy married Albert E. Wehrli, who died on December 23, 2015. Cathy was a homemaker all her life and took pride in raising her ten children. She was also a loving grandmother and great-grandmother to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was especially fond of spending time with family and friends, and enjoyed her trips to Florida with her husband, Al. Cathy was an active member and communicant of the Church of St. Bartholomew, and very much enjoyed living her last few years at the Chenango Valley Home on Canasawacta Street.

Cathy is survived by her children, Sandra Wood and her husband, Amos, Sue Kobylack and her husband, Ed, Debbie Rothwell and her husband, Tom, Bruce Cole and his wife, Amy, Linda Hryb, Beth Shrader and her husband, Bob, Cindy Brown and her husband, Bill, Brian Cole, Andrew Wehrli and his wife, Kara, and James Wehrli. She is also survived by 24 grandchildren, 14 fourteen great-grandchildren, her sister, Marjorie “Midge” Meade, and her brother Joseph Meade. In addition to her husband and parents, Cathy was predeceased by her brothers, Charles “Chuck” and Kenneth Meade, and grandsons, Todd Cole and Benjamin Intres.

A private burial will take place at St. Paul’s Cemetery on Friday, April 17, 2020. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at the Church of St. Bartholomew at a later date. Contributions in Cathy’s memory may be made to St. Bartholomew Church Capital Campaign, 30 Pleasant St., Norwich, NY 13815 or to the Chenango Valley Home, 24 Canasawacta Street, Norwich, NY 13815.
