Bartholomew Famolaro

Bartholomew Thomas “Bart” Famolaro, 77, of Norwich, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2013 at his home.

Born in Norwich on March 7, 1936, Bart was the son of Gaetano (Thomas) and Antoinette Mary (Mollica) Famolaro. He graduated from Norwich High School with the Class of 1955. He served from 1955 – 1957 in the United States Navy aboard the USS Wilkinson, a destroyer leader ship. Bart then worked as a warehouseman for Victory Markets until 1968 when he joined his brother-in-law, Bart Yacano at Bart’s Floor and Wall Covering until 1979. He returned to Victory as a truck driver until they closed. Bart also worked for a couple of years at St. Bartholomew’s Church, retiring in 1998.

Bart was a member of St. Bartholomew’s Church, the former St. Bart’s Society and of the Norwich Elk’s Lodge. He enjoyed bowling, participating in several leagues and once rolling a 297 game.

In 1958, Bart married Maria Yacano who passed away in 1978. On April 27, 1979, he married Marianne Messina Kuhn in St. Bartholomew’s Church, who survives. Also surviving are his children and their spouses, Ann M. and Gary Wheeler, Michael T. and Pamela Famolaro and Joseph M. and Denise Famolaro, all of Norwich, Patricia A. and Darren Pedersen of Canastota, Heath R. Kuhn of Brushton, NY, Kimberly I. Boyer of Norwich and Kristian J. and Raphaele Kuhn of Fairport; grandchildren Tara Wheeler, Nicole Famolaro Monroe, Jessica Famolaro Brown, Kyle Famolaro, Natasha Famolaro, Christi Famolaro, Ryan Pedersen, Alexa Pedersen, Savia and Grayson Boyer, Logan and Ava Kuhn, and Mason and Maddie Kuhn; five great-grandchildren; four sisters, Julia and Bill Taylor of Winslow, ME, Mary Rita and Jim Dundon, Nettie and Jim Dennis and Joan and George Whiting, all of Norwich. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and his sister-in-law, Mary Yacano, of Norwich.

A graveside service for Bart will be held in the spring at St. Paul’s Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
